Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American singer-dancer and actress. In her early Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In You Can't Take It With You in which she was awarded the Tony Award as Best Featured actor in an Play. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working with famous directors and actors both in film and on television. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC as an Hulu Original. Ashford, who will appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX program American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. She starred in two seasons of hit CBS comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre it also featured legendary actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway performances. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
