Laura Linney, best known for portraying strong, but weak characters, is among of the most well-known American actors of today. Her mother was an unmarried single mother who worked as a nurse. Her interest in the theatre during time spent in the summer with her famous father. Her studies in acting were through Brown University, and later at Juilliard School. Within a mere two years following graduation the actress began her Broadway career. The following year she made her first appearance in film and television. She has appeared on numerous shows on stage, television and film shows since that time. During her career she received many awards, including her two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of all the awards she has received, theatre has remained her primary passion and she has continued to appear both on stage and screen.
